Laila Milanian: Interior Design

Laila Milanian is a skilled businesswoman with many years of professional experience. She is a veteran project manager who is skilled at applying her talents and techniques to effectively and efficiently manage projects from start to finish. She also has experience as an entrepreneur, having started a Pilates for Pregnancy business, and is currently developing a new bridal business that prepares women for every aspect of their weddings.

Laila Milanian is also experienced in interior decorating and design. She says that many people are mystified at what goes into designing an interior space. She says that they are often confused about the difference between interior design and interior decorating, but as someone skilled at both she can explain the difference. Interior design, she says, draws on aspects of product design and architecture, in addition to conventional decoration.

It is a creative process, she says, in which someone such as herself analyzes information, establishes a conceptual and design direction for a space, and produces illustrations and documents relating to the proposed design. Laila Milanian says that interior design involves looking at the big picture: thinking of a house, for example, as a series of spaces that are linked into a whole through a series of hallways and stairways. She aims to create continuity of design throughout. Design themes do not necessarily have to be the same throughout the house, but they should have common elements that work together.

Laila Milanian is a graduate of Saint John’s University, where she received a degree in Computer Science and Business; of Parsons University at The New School, where she received a degree in Product Design and Merchandising; and of Pennsylvania State University where she earned an MBA.

Project Management, as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI), is managing a temporary group activity, or project, that is designed to produce a specific result. It could be tangible or intangible: examples would be the expansion of a business’s sales in a new market or the construction of a building or highway.

Laila Milanian is a recognized leader in the field of project management. She is a very analytical professional with an entrepreneurial spirit. While she has worked for others, including Bloomberg Financial Services and Goldman Sachs & Company, she started a business called Pregnant Plates to help new mothers get back in shape.

“Pilates is really the best way to restore muscle strength, tone muscle, and promote weight loss,” she says. “These are three things that new moms tend to focus on after having a baby.” Laila Milanian is a longtime health enthusiast who has experience in many different sports and workouts, and says that Pilates offers new and expectant mothers great health benefits. And she says that it’s great for everyone else, too.
